alright, first journal entry EVER! now i'm warning you, im really inconsistent with journal/blog/diary/wutever writing, so... you probably wont see another entry for 3 months XD

today as the immigration simulation! people in school dress up as immigrants and run around, trying to get into "america". it's really fun! but, since i'm in the american thought class, i was a person working for "ellis island" instead of an immigrant. basically, my class (including myself) had to run the whole simulation. we got to yell at people in gibberish, ask for bribes, bring people to the detention center, make people dance and sing to pass the station... overall just be mean and corrupt. but as much fun as this sounds, i found that i like being an immigrant a lot better.

when youre an immigrant, its less chaotic, you sort of know wut you're doing more and you can appreciate the different stations. When youre an ellis island person, you have so many things to focus on, and youre so busy:

guarding the stamps so nobody steals any
guarding the (fake) money so nobody steals any
getting through the long line of people
making sure people dont get through too quickly
making sure people dont have to stay too long
making it look like everythings chaotic but really keeping it
organized
doing different tasks for every few people so that theres variety
and they dont know wut to expect
keeping an eye out for people doing bad things so you can hand
out punishments or bring them to the detention center
remembering to actually personally respond to each person's
answer instead of just saying, "congratulations, you can't
understand gibberish, but ill stamp your pass anyway"
keeping track of who can speak english and who cant
and making nominations for the "immy awards"
among other things...

........that you dont really get to appreciate the im sim. it flies by, and really only feels like 20 or 30 minutes, instead of 2 1/2 hours.

i didnt get to see wut any of the other stations were doing, i was so busy with my own. plus, i didnt get to see more than half of the immigrants, four of which were the characters i made. so.... point is, i like being the immigrant a lot more.

..........and yes, chances are most of my journal entries will be this long. XD but i know no one will read them, so it's ok.
